Client Infrastructure

  • 13 sites and each site had its own domain controller, running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server OS on single domain structure
  • Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server at Singapore as bridgehead which interlinks to similar servers at the external 12 sites.
  • Another site configured with different exchange organisation and domain

Client requirements

  • To deploy and manage centralised domain structure
  • To overcome the limitations of the older version of Exchange 5.5 mail system

Solution Overview

  • Fine tuning of AD site connectors in the existing Windows 2000 Domain controllers located at 13 sites
  • Migration of existing Windows 2000 domain to Windows 2003 domain at HQ
  • Implementation and Migration of existing DNS, WINS and DHCP services to Windows 2003 services
  • Implementation of WSUS on a member server
  • Migration of existing Exchange 5.5 servers to Exchange 2003 Cluster Servers at HQ
  • Commissioning of 2 cluster backend servers with 4 nodes–one for special group of users and another for all other users
  • Commissioning of one front-end (OWA) server
  • Commissioning of two new Exchange 2003 servers with load balancing to perform as Exchange Connectors, SRS, SMTP routing
  • OMA, OWA, RPC over http and IIFP which is used for GAL synchronisation with different Windows 2000 forest
  • Migration of about 1,200 user mailboxes
